The country was established with a dream of freedom from oppression and protection of lives and properties of the common people. Somehow Pakistan never achieved that goal. Military ruled the country for large part of its life for its own vested interests, and now militants have also taken the society-forming role by killing common people in the name of Islam, at home and abroad.
Has the dream failed? Have the rulers since 1947 failed? Or have Pakistanis as a nation failed? Perhaps all of them. It is shame to know of terrorist attack anywhere, fear that the terrorists could be Pakistanis, and then find out soon that yes! there was a Pakistani link somehow.
Should the government do more to make Pakistan a peace-loving country and a livable place, or should common Pakistanis rise up to defend their own and their country’s reputation and prestige? Such that Pakistanis can live a respectable life in the world.
The question is open to debate but I personally feel Pakistanis as a whole need to rise up and defend their nation and religion. Otherwise terrorists will take the country hostage, destroy the beautiful country, brain drain will reach its climax and Pakistan will never be the Asian Tiger it always wants to be.
