Son of Pakistani Law Minister exercises law

Son of Pakistani Law Minister exercised law 3 days before country’s 58th Independence Day by beating up a flight passenger who objected that why the Law Minister and his son were not searched before boarding a PIA flight from Karachi to Islamabad.

This looks a small incident but it tells a big story about the way governments in Pakistan rule. The government officials consider themselves above the law (more so if you are Minister of Law and Human Rights) and consider beating up their subjects their divine right.

Oh fellow Pakistanis…there is still long way to go till we will get true independence. We are still slaves, only that our masters now are local elites instead of white-skinned foreigners…

Attacks in Egypt have Pakistani link too..

BBC is reporting that Egypt is searching for six Pakistanis suspected of involvement in bomb attacks at Sharm-ul-Sheikh resort. Another moment of pride(!) for Musharraf, the government and the people of Pakistan.

It is really time for common Pakistanis and religious leaders to speak up and denounce acts of few which are bringing such a bad name to the country. And perhaps do something in your capacity so that Pakistan stops creating terrorists…

Take Out Muslim Holy Sites?

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8633005/

US lawmaker Tom Tancredo says US could take out Muslim holy sites if America was attacked with a nuclear bomb. What a stupidity it is that a politician and leader will say such a thing. On top of it, he refuses to apologize! People from all religions, including World Jewish Congress, have condemned the comments (http://www.worldjewishcongress.org/nfo/article.cfm?id=4576). Why would not he apologize?

Comments like these are the perfect recipe for creating more extremism, stupidities like these are what the extremists need to justify their acts and recruit more people.

Do the terrorists really represent all Muslims, and Islam itself? Tom should know. Shame that he does not.

London Mayor blames Middle East policy for attacks

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4698963.stm

An interesting and valid point of view, but how many people will agree? Referring to my previous post, if Livingstone thinks so, should Pakistan blame its failure as a nation to this policy too?

I long to know…

Oh Pakistan!

The country was established with a dream of freedom from oppression and protection of lives and properties of the common people. Somehow Pakistan never achieved that goal. Military ruled the country for large part of its life for its own vested interests, and now militants have also taken the society-forming role by killing common people in the name of Islam, at home and abroad.

Has the dream failed? Have the rulers since 1947 failed? Or have Pakistanis as a nation failed? Perhaps all of them. It is shame to know of terrorist attack anywhere, fear that the terrorists could be Pakistanis, and then find out soon that yes! there was a Pakistani link somehow.

Should the government do more to make Pakistan a peace-loving country and a livable place, or should common Pakistanis rise up to defend their own and their country’s  reputation and prestige? Such that Pakistanis can live a respectable life in the world.

The question is open to debate but I personally feel Pakistanis as a whole need to rise up and defend their nation and religion. Otherwise terrorists will take the country hostage, destroy the beautiful country, brain drain will reach its climax and Pakistan will never be the Asian Tiger it always wants to be.
